About: For over 30 years, West Tennessee Legal Services has provided access to justice for low-income and vulnerable people in a 17-county, mostly rural area of West Tennessee with civil legal problems affecting basic needs for food security, shelter, medical care, income security, and freedom from abuse.

Fellowship Overview

WTLS is migrating to Microsoft 365 and developing a program-wide knowledge information system built in SharePoint Online. The SharePoint project will include creating substantive law team sites, an intake team site with standardized scripts and case acceptance protocols, legal forms library, and administrative and HR sites. The project's goal is to increase collaboration and efficiency of WTLS staff. The Fellow will work with WTLS staff to help design the framework of our SharePoint site and team sites and select/develop forms for the legal library.

Fellows Duties

The Fellow will assist with the assessment of data management needs of the WTLS substantive units, compilation of the legal library of best practice forms, and design of the system workflow. The Fellow will also be involved with WTLS policy development regarding document retention and implementation of the policy by selecting existing content for migration to the new system.

Competencies Include

  • Have the ability to undergo and pass a criminal background checks

  • Be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or Lawful Permanent Resident of the United States

  • Have a demonstrated commitment to public interest work and strong desire to assist indigent clients

  • Have strong writing, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

  • Have a working-knowledge of SharePoint and other Microsoft 365 applications

  • Have the ability work collaboratively in a variety of contexts

  • Have a valid driver’s license

  • Have the ability to begin the internship no later than June 1, 2019

  • Support program staff, your supervisor, and administrative staff in duties as appropriate and necessary

  • Consult with your supervisor if you have any ideas, issues, or concerns, offering analysis and solutions whenever possible

  • Respect confidentiality of clients
